How to clean and polish your 925 Sterling Silver Jewelry at home.

Before trying any of the solutions or at-home methods, we highly recommend starting with the basics: polishing.

Make sure to buy a specialist silver, microfiber, or lint-free cloth. Don’t ever use tissue paper or paper towels. We know they may be easier to find but these materials might scratch your pieces!

With your cloth, make some back and forth motions along the grain of the silver until blemishes and tarnishing are removed. You’ll start to see the change and how they start to shine!

Remember: Avoid going in circular motions because it will highlight scratchers.

You’ve polished your silver and still have some dull pieces? Don’t worry.
We have 3 at-home recipes to clean your jewelry that won’t fail!

  1. LEMON JUICE AND OLIVE OIL

Check your kitchen cabinets and find some lemons and olive oil.

Mix some lemon juice and olive oil together until you get a thin paste. Dip your cloth and start buffing!

The combination of acids in the lemon juice and the oil will help your stains melt away in a matter of minutes.

  1. BAKING SODA AND ALUMINUM FOIL

Do you remember those cool high-school science experiments? This will feel just like one.

First, boil a liter of water. Once it’s boiling, add one tablespoon of baking soda to the pot… AND a piece of aluminum foil (Yes! You read that right!)

Remove your mix from the heat. Take your jewelry and place it inside of the water for around 10 seconds, maybe just a few seconds longer if the tarnish is heavy.

Take them out, buff it with a slightly abrasive cloth, and voilà, you have shiny jewelry again.

  1. BAKING SODA AND VINEGAR

And last but not least, try mixing some baking soda and vinegar. This solution is also a really great at-home option. All you need are products you most likely already own!

This is a slow-burning method (so you need to be a little more patient), but the results are as great as the other two!

Combine half a cup of white vinegar and two tablespoons of baking soda in a glass. Put your sterling silver piece inside the mix and allow it to sit for three hours. Then rinse and buff dry.
